Jerry Ray Wells, 54, of Weldon, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at his home.

Jerry was a native of Halifax County, the son of the late Norwood Hampton Wells and Lois Etheridge Wells. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Griffin, and her husband, Harry Lee Griffin, and his brother, Carlton Wells. Jerry was a graduate of Weldon High School, class of 1976. He was an active member of Weldon Fire Dept. for 35 years. Jerry was employed by Coca-Cola Company for 29 years. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Angela Braswell Wells; three sons, Travis Wells and his wife, Cari Ann, of Raleigh, Jason Wells and his wife, Jessica, of Winterville, and Jeremy Wells of the home; his sister, Shirley Tidwell, of Severn; two brothers, Tommy Wells and his wife, Kathy, of Weldon, and Hugh Wells and his wife, Connie, of Jackson; his father-in-law, Warren Braswell, of Roanoke Rapids; his sister-in-law, Anne Wells, of Roanoke Rapids; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Randy Braswell and his wife, Peggy Jo, of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Sherrill Braswell and his wife, Jane, of Nashville, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, at Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
